RFID for UHF

The antenna working frequency should be well enough to operate from 898 MHz to 934 MHz which suitable for UHF RFID application. I will share later once the antenna has been constructed and tested with the network analyzer

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working on a simulation project involving passive UHF RFID antennas in CST Studio Suite, using a single excitation port (Discrete Port) — similar to how a real RFID tag operates.

I’m trying to calculate or estimate the following parameters from the simulation results:

  • Backscatter (signal reflected back toward the reader).
  • Power on Tag Forward and Reverse .
  • Theoretical Read Range Forward.

So far, I’ve:

Modeled the antenna and substrate,

Added a discrete port,

And obtained S11 and some field data.

However, I’m struggling with how to formulate the equations needed to extract or estimate these quantities based on CST results.

If anyone here has experience with this kind of RFID simulation or could share:

Relevant formulas or theoretical references,

An example CST project file,

Or general guidance on how to model and analyze backscatter and tag power in this setup,

I would greatly appreciate your help!

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Ho cine
