How can I lower the VSWR ? ...everything else , seems OKAY...

When a transmission line is terminated with impedance, ZL that is not equal to the characteristic impedance of the transmission line, ZO, not all of the incident power is absorbed by the termination.  Some of the power is reflected back to the source so that phase addition and subtraction of the incident waves creates a voltage standing wave pattern on the transmission line. The ratio of the maximum to minimum voltage where the successive maxima and minima are spaced by 180˚ (λ/2) is known as the voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR).

Yea...i've known what VSWR...from the ...ARRL BOOKs ...back in the 90's ... is...but i think the antenna is too capacitive...WHERE can i see the REACTIVE Z...? and find out

using 3mm Polystyrene foam (1.2) , and a capacitive disc to neutralize the antenna being too INDUCTIVE...

quarter fa20_01.gif

Not bad for a 180 by 240 cms...

Doing the fine tunning , now...

very happy with the results , stability and Gain...!

W7 showing 10 db more than linux on every Ap...(damn drivers for sure)

planning on REBUILD muy FA20 WITHOUT screws to reflector...this patches work better (lower VSWR) floating and NOT grounded!

"Years later I had the chance to buy an Agilent Fieldfox Network/Spectrum Analyzer for my job, I quickly measured the VSWR and the result is stunning 1.2 VSRW from channel 1 to 11, it kind of confirm the simulation results

,,,hi buddy...!!!

,,, good achievement ... !!!

In your cst simulation,  the polystyrene spacer is missing...??

You can only get 16 dBi with 4 patches and not 8...!!!

Theoretically  9dbi MAX 1 Patch , 12dbi MAX 2 Patchs , 15dbi 4 Patchs ,  8 patchs should give 18dbi but you need DISTANCE area ,(then box shape  and volume and reflectors directors (more volume)

on 24 x 20 x 5mm (with PES) foam...(even 20 x 18 x 5mm) works

LIPTON Panel15v4VMod1b...(bigger volume) and weight ...(more SIDELOBES)

Marine 4 patchs with director (a pain in the ass to build) ...(more SIDELOBES)

haven't seen it...

this

gets close but bigger area (and some sidelobes)

The thing with FA-20 PATCHES is that they get more gain with the FLAPS WINGS...at 30 degrees...(but they are really inductive and we need to correct reactivity Zi)

Don't forget is a COVER of a Netbook (Intel clamshell Class PC)

Deverdad funciona ? Yo cree una para el router pero no veo mejoria

Esta antena fue la que cree pero no veo mejoria sera que esta solo funciona cono receptora por que no aumento la pontencia de la señal

RECIPROCITY  is the fact that any ANTENNA (passive NO electronics) (and every antenna) has same conditions on Rx and Tx...Power only could be incremented through amplification (electronics)

More DBi means you concentrate more of that energy on a smaller ANGLE (and the need to point the antenna) directional...

Esta es facil y esta cerca de los 16db Lipton modified Bester 15V4
